I'm trying to find a course that you can get an NVQ 2 qualification in nails in London.. Please help!?

I need the course to be a short intensive course, so NOT one evening/day a week for a year/a few months etc.


I need something that is every day for a few weeks or a couple of days a week for no more than a month etc.





Anyway Please if you know of a college or beauty centre in london where they do this sort of course please let me know.





I know of the carlton institute in Windso,r which ticks all the boxes as in you get an nvq 2 and its a one week intensive course, but I was looking for something a little nearer - i live in middlesex. I seem to be having no such luck as the courses I seem to find are either a year course full or part time or they are the right time scale but not an NVQ qualification.

best bet is to have a look online. There are loads of places that offer home courses in nails, but they are very expensive. If you are under 19 years old, you are still entitled to free education, so apply at your local college and get trained properly for free. If you are over 19, then you could still try your local college. The only problem with learning at home is you are learning from video's/dvd's rather than someone with you giving you advice there are then.

I have found another website but you have to attend a training school the good thing about that its not something which you have to attend for weeks its only a one day course!! and cost £125!! which is dam cheap

its normal, that means theres a fungal infedction but its very minor and very common, its underneath the nail so it cant spread, and if you really dont like it there are precription pills to take which will clear up nails in about 3 to 6 months, but they're purely cosmetic because the fungal infection does no harm whatsoever.My Boyfriend is a clean fellow, and of course, showers regularly. this is a disease of the onyx( nails) there are ways to treat it.. as i can't see what they look like.. he could have them bleached. but as stated earlier it is a keratin deficiancy. have him take vitaimins with keratin. this will help in the long run.. but as for this minute you can have them bleached or you can paint them for him.. to cover it but nail polish stains nails too. so. best luck would be the vitaimin
I don't think it is. It could still be fungus even if it doesn't look like what's on tv... he should see a doctor, if for no other reason than because it bothers you.

My first thought is a fungus, but maybe nothing. Your boyfriend's nails could be perfectly normal. See a doctor to be sure.

He could have a toe fungus. The only way to find out is to see a doctor. There are topical medications as well as oral antibiotics such as sporonox to help treat it. It does not necessarily mean that a person has poor hygene, he could have picked up the fungus in a gym shower/locker room.

are his eyes a little yellow too? if so he could have jaundice which can mean some very serious things are wrong with him. he could have a disease like hepatitis and not know it, so i would check into that if it could be a possibility. and yes, if they are just yellow make sure he is getting sun light and oxygen to them by wearing sandles every now and then (yes, sunlight and oxygen do help), get him a pedicure, and go buy a fungus remover from the drug store, even if its not that bad it can still help.
Probably a fungus infection, just not as advanced as the deformed ones. Another possibility is that his socks dye his toenails. He should see a doctor, because the sooner he treats a fungus infection, the easier it is to get rid of.
does he smoke? fingernails, toenails, teeth usually tend to become yellow if you are a smoker.
umm if he keeps his toes cut really low then it will fade away other than that ur toe nail is a natural grown fungus...all those commercial medicines dont work he has to keep trimming them....sorry

It may be a fungal infection. Take him to a dermatologist who can prescribe anti fungal medication and then cream to soften the nail. It will then just grow out and normal nail will come through.

Sounds like he has a fungus. If they aren't thick or misshapen, he hasn't had it for too long. If it is bothersome, have him check with a Doctor or Podiatrist. There are also over-the-counter meds you can use. I cheated, I soaked my feet in Listerine, killed it, but I had blue toenails til they grew out. LOL! Now they have the Citrus flavored stuff. It's orange! I would still have had yellow-orange toenails! Besides, I have found that guys have this ';If it's not broke, don't fix it'; thing going for them. Good luck in clearing things up!

I did my course through correspondence, its cheaper and you can work as fast or as slow as you want, you can send in written or on-line essays/assignments.. You pay for your course in instalments each month and they even help you with 24hours tutor help.. I know that the correspondence school I went through has Nail Technology Certificates.. The best thing to do is look at them on-line or call them directly..


They are called Thomson Education Direct and they are located in Victoria..Their certificates are all accredited so you can work in other states too.. Some courses offered by other schools aren't recognised in other states so being nationally accredited is a huge bonus, and they aren't overly expensive, paying by the month is easy on the hip pocket instead of having to fork out the full amount all at once..

Who told you that fake nails would be good for your real nails? The manicurist? Hmmmmmmm.........





As a matter of fact, acrylics are not good for your real nails because they do not let your nails ';breathe.'; And when you get them taken off, layers of your real nail will end up coming off with it too because they have to scrape off the residue and your own nail will be injured in that process.





You can get your own nails healthy with good nutrition and and a good quality multivitamin. If you have some problem, like ridges or spooning, then that indicates some deficiency that needs to be addressed!





If you still insist on an artificial nail, try a silk wrap. It lets more air in to your nailbed.I hava fake nails, and of course my real nails are growing, but how come they seem to be brittle underneath?..

they're brittle because they're not ';breathing';. Believe me when you have acrylics you need to take a break from them every few weeks to let them get stronger
Have them put on a nail hardner. I really think your nails are weak from the constant glueing an unglueing of the fake nails.
Your nails are brittle due to the chemicals you put on them. Nail polish, nail polish remover, glue, etc. This stuff spreads to your nail matrix. Your diet might also play a role.





It's funny to me that women commonly call men liars, but then they:





- fake their nail length


- cover themselves with makeup


- wear high heels to fake being taller


- wear push up bras to fake having bigger breats


- wear girdles and ';control panties'; to fake being lighter or more shapely

fake nails suck they make the real nails weak. take them off and let ur real nails breathe. then put some nail polish on it and believe me they will grow.
your nails cannot breathe its a like everything it needs time off--as in no false nails. water can go under and fungas grows
ask them to put a nail strengthener base on your nails next time you have a fill in
I know lots of ladies that have that same problem. seems those chemicals on nails does major damage.... at least that is what it seems to me.

In Nova Scotia, the NSCC (Community College) offers a Cosmetology course, one beginners and one advanced. You only need a high school diploma for Nail Technology. It is a 20 week long program, including classroom and salon lab and a work experience. I am sure that any community college would offer similar programs in your area. But as the person above said, generally no 4 year college/university will offer such a program. A great idea would be to ask your nail artist (I guess that's what they'd be) where he/she got their certification and go along that route.I want to know if your college have course on beauty and nails?
try to look in your local area for a technical college.....most 4 year colleges and universities dont have this program.....this is considered a technical skill.....also ask your own beautician or barber where they went to learn their trade and they may tell you and lead you in the right direction......good luckI want to know if your college have course on beauty and nails?
There is a technical college in my area- Opelousas, LA that offers a cosmetology course. They cover beauty, nails, and even hand massages... But I don't think they have any online stuff if that's what you're really looking for...

I see from your screenname you are from Spain. I am not sure of what is currently the law there but here in the states you need a license to do nails not a certificate.


Learning from home courses arent used here in the USA for this course when you need to take a written as well as a practical test in your state.





I don't get how you will learn properly without feedback from a teacher for the application procedures in the various forms of doing nails. The course looks good but you need practice in person so you can get feedback what you are doing right and wrong with the various products you will be learning about. The book smarts about the in's and out's of products, sanitation, nail disorders etc maybe good but its not as good as learning in person.





Its not as easy as it looks. Especially with the light cured UV gels and Acrylic nails and sculpturing with a form. Doing nails in general as especially in any artificial nail product requires allot of knowledge and allot of troubleshooting as clients nails can be rather tricky and you have to formulate an application that will fix a problem on a client.





I know in various countries in Europe they require different things regarding your experience as well as training as well the practice of nails is different as what products they use and what services they provide. Good Luck though.

I currently work part time in my office job and have mondays and tuesdays free, Id like to do some training with my free time.


I've always been interested in Beauty Therapy and would like to do a course in nails firstly by attending either mondays or tuesdays both days. I live in Edinburgh but cant find anything like this. Only short courses are at night? Does anyone know of anything available during the day? tried all the main college websites but nothing :o(

If any of your local colleges offer Beauty Theraply courses they should offer it to you on a part time basis ie one day a week for 2 years. Most colleges will offer General Nails route into beauty therapy - either at svq level or HNC/D. You should try phoning the student information centres at your local college. My advice is to remove this question and pretend you never asked it. If anyone from your course, any of your instructors, or anyone from your nail board sees this you WILL lose ALL of your hours and be banned from practicing in your state. Asking for test answers and information is considered cheating and is against the rules.
